Everyone has their own standard of beauty. It's hard to say what really is beauty. Beauty depends on where you're from, your culture, and most important YOURSELF.
Koreans have the most beautiful skin ever. When you touch their skin, it's smooth as a baby's butt. I have never felt skin so smooth, I just want to keep on touching it. I crave for their very smooth skin. Whenever I see female idols and Korean actresses, I wonder how they keep their skin looking so white and flawless.
Besides the amount of make up they put on, which Brandice will talk about in a blog later, what else do they do to have wonderful skin.
Korea's beauty standard is white porcelain skin, double eyelids, and v-line face. Having a pale complexion represents that you are more luxurious than a tan skin, which assumes that you're a poor peasant, having to work out in the sun all day. For people who want to get the v-line face, it's kinda nasty...they would shave off their jaw bone to get that structure. The double eyelid is the most common plastic surgery done. Females and males both get this surgery to get a more Westernized look. Korea is ranked #1 for plastic surgery. Most idols have done plastic surgery to get to where they are today. Sometimes looks are everything and would do a lot to get the attention they want. I always get surprised when high school girls even get plastic surgery. They're tooooo young ><
Of course, not all idols want to go through that road, but are forced by their company to do it. Like Jessi (on the right), her company wanted to change her image to a more sexy, mature, and charismatic than a cute and girly look.
Of course I'm not into all of that. It's dangerous, unnatural, and really expensive (no offense to those who have done it). I'm all about being natural and healthy. I know many people aren't satisfied with their looks and body. I am too and it's because of the media that puts up gorgeous pictures of celebrities, making everyone feel that this is how they should look. We are too focused on how everyone would look at us, we get too distracted on the things that are more important than looks. It's ok to change how you look, but do it in a safe way like eating healthier and working out more. Surgery isn't the answer to your issues. And to those who like the way they are, kudos to y'all. I wish I had that confidence. In the end, it's your own decision on what to do to your body.
Be proud in the skin you're in
